Australian Marist Solidarity is the international aid and development agency founded by the Marist Brothers in Australia. We work to ensure that young people in Asia and the Pacific have access to educational opportunities.
**The role**
You will work within a small, passionate and committed team, reporting to the Fundraising and Communications Manager. Your role will involve building and maintaining key relationships with a range of AMS supporters and engaging them with our work through a variety of platforms including digital media, publications and events.

**Position Description: Communications and Engagement Officer**
Location: Marist Centre Brisbane, Ashgrove
Status: Fulltime (37.5 hours a week)
Reports to: Fundraising and Communications Manager
Duration: 3 year contract
Start date: as soon as possible
AMS makes a difference every day in children's lives by providing access to life-changing education for children and young people in the Asia Pacific. We are a supportive and passionate team with a collaborative team culture anchored in the principles of the Marist way including presence, simplicity, and family spirit.
As a Community Engagement Officer, you will work as a part of an established team to deliver a range of engagement activities across these portfolios.
The role will encompass a wide range of functions, with a particular focus on digital communications, database management, graphic design and engaging with AMS supporters through events and campaigns. It will include a range of communications & marketing support including the preparation of content for various target audiences, preparing campaigns, EDMs, media releases, social media content and internal communications.
Duties will include:
- Implementing marketing, communications and fundraising activities that deliver results aligned with our strategic plan.
- Managing engagement and content delivery across multiple social media channels.
- Creating finished graphic design artwork for digital and print
- Design and creation of assets across all types of media, including newsletters, print, video, web, social and digital media.
- Development of copy for assets across all types of media, including newsletters, print, video, web, social and digital media.
- Employing best practice standards for all marketing and communication activities.
- Monitoring and preparing reports on communications & fundraising activities to measure effective project delivery and produce reporting on campaigns and advertising.
- Engaging with and supporting our donors, schools and supporters.
- Small-scale event management including managing invitations, guest lists, RSVPs and event logistics.
- Providing operational support to AMS team where required
**About You**:
You're a focused individual who enjoys performing your responsibilities to the highest level. You have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and are able to build strong relationships with those around you. You have strong digital literacy and are competent in navigating multiple social media channels and software associated with the delivery of communications and fundraising functions with the ability to learn quickly in situations where you are unfamiliar.
You will be an enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude and a keen interest in community engagement and a passion for creating a positive impact through your work. You will be available for five days of work per week in leafy Ashgrove and will thrive in an open and collaborative team setting.
**You will have**:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a similar role either in a not-for-profit or industry with transferrable skillsets.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, including excellent self-management and autonomy, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to wor
