This leading commercial builder are ramping up their Design Management team and seeking a Design Manager to report into a Senior Design Manager.
Revered for their largescale commercial industrial builds, project sizes are growing in size and complexity.
A Design Manager is required to ensure buildability of projects, overseeing design process, managing external architects, presenting to client representatives, coordinating with site based team, and managing RFI's.
As a Design Manager, you will oversee the design process from the enquiry stage through to construction, ensuring designs meet client briefs, regulatory requirements, and project timelines. This role involves managing consultants, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality designs, and coordinating with various departments to deliver successful projects.
Early Contractor Involvement (ECI)
Chair design meetings, produce minutes and keep records of design changes during the E CI process.
Manage consultants, raise consultant orders and commission reports as required. Prepare documentation as required.
Assist Business Development Manager and Estimating Manager in all aspects of the ECI process.
Contract Stage
− Receive and review brief from Business Development Manager including:
* Hold Pre-Documentation meeting and issue minutes
* Development Approval Conditions
* Head contract requirements
* Ensure authority to commence design (commit expenditure) is in place.
Construction Stage
Prepare, lodge, attend and receive building permits
Review project progressively as required and at completion looking for improvements
Attend project review meeting on completion of the project
Assess and approve subcontractor's variations raised because of design errors or lack of information on the drawings (Design Variations).
Ideal Candidate
Current Design Management experience within Tier 2 or 3 Construction.
5-10 years experience with a consultant + contractor exposure.
Architecture/Project Engineer/Structural Engineering background with construction
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and Project.
