Edward Mann is recruiting on behalf of a thriving automotive services business and is on the hunt for a proactive Assistant Accountant (Finance & Payroll), who thrives on structure, data integrity, and getting things done across a broad remit. If you enjoy combining traditional finance work with operational oversight then this is up your alley.
You'll report directly to the Financial Controller and work closely with departments like Sales, Operations and HR to keep the business running smoothly.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of financial operations, including preparing purchase orders, processing transactions and invoices, assisting with budgeting and reporting, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records and procurement data.
A critical component of the role is overseeing end-to-end payroll processing for the entire business group. This includes maintaining up-to-date payroll records, ensuring compliance with relevant taxation and employment regulations,
The role is paying up to 110k + super - The role is 5 days a week in office during probation, then dropping to 3/2 hybrid arrangement.
Responsibilities:
* End-to-end payroll processing - roughly 80 employees
* Month end close.
* Participate heavily in budget preparation, variance analysis and process improvement
* PAYG, FBT, super and monthly/quarterly commissions reporting
* Reconciliations: bank, payroll, vehicle disposals.
* Raise purchase orders, process invoices, manage settlements and assist with budgeting
* Help with audit support and compliance tasks across procurement
* Liaise with fleet, finance and insurance teams on sales, total loss reporting and asset tacking

What we're looking for:
* 1–3 years' experience in a finance or payroll position
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred
* Familiarity with KeyPay, Stripe, and accounting systems a bonus
* Strong attention to detail, time management and communication skills
* Ability to spot issues, solve problems, and make processes better
* Comfortable working across finance, fleet and operational teams
