Base Salary Range
A$170,000.00 - A$200,000.00 per annum
About the Client:
One of the most respected Electrical contractors in Melbourne is seeking a Safety Manager to join the team. The company employs over 200 people and works on Tier 1 projects, including Data Centers, Commercial build, and infrastructure projects in road and rail.
About the Role:
The primary purpose of this position is to support and provide specialist advice regarding Safety management. Working closely with the Project Site Team, the client and the Senior Leadership team, you will ensure that Safety compliance requirements are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide assistance in the development of Project Risk Register/Hazard Log
* Set up Project team meetings to complete the monthly Project Risk Register reviews with a 3-week look ahead, track the updates and consult with sub-contractors
* Consult with site teams in safety-related advice with day-to-day activities
* Provide assistance in developing weekly toolboxes and delivering to work groups
* Understand and implement policies and procedures at a site level
* Monitor site activities to ensure WHS procedures are in place as required
* Assist the project team with Construction Management Software compliance and data input
* Undertake internal safety inspections, observations, and actions
* Assist project teams to develop solutions to internal safety inspection findings
* Liaise with external/client safety representatives
* Assist site teams to address external safety inspection findings
* Collate external/client safety inspection data
* Review SWMS (initial and periodic)
* Review plant and equipment pre-start inspections
* Review plant paperwork and collation
* Assist site teams with toolbox talks, pre-starts, weekly site inspections, task observations, and permits
* Guide site teams with regular upkeep of HSEQ registers, such as hazardous substances, fire equipment, equipment calibration, etc.
* Participate in project teams' meetings (internal/external)
* Undertake emergency drills and assessment of mock drills
* Review and update site-specific emergency evacuation plans and procedures
* Report incidents (internal and external through Construction Software Management where required)
Qualifications and Experience:
* Knowledge of the WH&S Act 2011, WH&S Regulation 2017, other relevant legislation, standards, and associated obligations in the application of Safety in Construction
* Degree, Certificate IV or diploma in WHS or similar tertiary qualification
* Proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs
Personal Qualities:
* Ability to develop an understanding of client expectations and ability to form and maintain positive relationships
* Strong listening and communication skills with an ability to relate to people from a wide range of positions and backgrounds
* Ability to assist in the performance of team members towards the achievement of company goals and principles
* Ability to effectively handle high-stress environments with resilience and professionalism
