JOIN OUR TEAM

FMR Investments is currently seeking an experienced residential Survey Technician, based in the Goldfields region, to immediately join our team at the Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine. This role plays a vital part in achieving our development and production targets.

Based at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine approximately 55km north-east of Kalgoorlie

Roster Hours

8 hr shifts on a 5:2 roster (42-hour week)


SUMMARY OF ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Survey Technician at our underground gold operation, you'll support the mine survey team by carrying out accurate mark-ups, pickups, and data collection tasks in the field. This hands-on role is vital in ensuring spatial accuracy for mining, drilling, and infrastructure development. You'll work in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and initiative are key.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Perform underground and surface mark-ups and pickups

Assist with installation of survey control and laser plumbs

Operate survey equipment including total stations and CMS scanners

Upload and organise survey data for planning teams

Maintain equipment and field records

General Duties

Willing to assist with other underground or labouring duties as needed

Maintain high personal standards of safety, performance, and teamwork

Support day-to-day surveying in line with mine plans

Work effectively with technical and operational teams

Follow site entry and safety procedures

Equipment, Machinery, Systems & Tools

Total stations, laser scanners, and GPS receivers

Survey software (e.g. Surpac, Deswik, AutoCAD)

Field communication devices and digital levels

Administrative Documentation & Reporting

Maintain daily logs and upload survey data

Assist in preparing and updating mark-up sheets and plans

Report discrepancies, hazards, or equipment issues

Ensure organised digital file management

Health, Safety, Compliance & Communication

Adhere to all company policies, environmental standards, and site procedures (including the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and Regulations)

Communicate effectively and complete all required documentation accurately and on time

Conduct routine inspections to identify and control hazards


KEY REQUIREMENTS

Experience

Experience as a Survey Technician in mining or exploration operations

Exposure to underground surveying tasks and environments

Familiarity with basic survey pickups, set outs, and data handling

Exposure to survey software (Surpac, Deswik, AutoCAD)

Education/Qualifications/ Licenses

Experience with multiple Surpac versions

Certificate or Diploma in Surveying, Geospatial Science, or related field

Working at heights certification

Experience with CMS, GPS/GNSS units, and digital surveying tools

Reside locally in the Goldfields region of Western Australia
