Overview
The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking a Staff Specialist Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician to establish a multidisciplinary ADHD assessment service supporting children and adolescents across Tasmania. The service aims to reduce wait times, enhance early intervention, strengthen transition pathways to primary care, and improve cross-sector collaboration with educational systems and primary care.
Primary Tasks
Provide clinical services of the highest standard to paediatric and adolescent patients and families referred for neurodevelopmental, behavioural and learning problems.
Actively pursue improved outcomes for Tasmanian children and adolescents by participating in teaching, audit, evaluation, peer review and quality improvement.
Promote and participate in research through the Department of Paediatrics or University of Tasmania School of Medicine.
Role
Provide outpatient clinical care of children and adolescents with suspected neurodevelopmental issues.
Supervise registrars in developmental paediatrics.
Develop sustainable practice partnerships for neurodevelopmental assessment and management of children and young people in Southern Tasmania.
Lead and drive the evolution of developmental services for Tasmanian children and adolescents.
Participate in statewide planning for neurodevelopmental services.

Salary and Allowances
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
Remuneration will comprise the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements, negotiated with the successful applicant based on clinical experience and seniority. Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 – $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Medical Practitioners Agreement ****
Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro-rata per annum, paid fortnightly.
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro-rata per annum.
On-call allowance % of Base Salary.
All other allowances as per current Award.
Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro-rata additional payment is available from PPS. If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
Other Benefits
Living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits.

Department of Health has achieved the "Carer Accredited Employer Status" providing support to employees with caring responsibilities.
Details of Appointment
Fixed-term part-time (0.2 FTE) day work (with on-call), working 15.2 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible until 14 July ****. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time and casual vacancies.
Essential Requirements
Holds specialist registration; or
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway; or
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
Pre-employment checks: conviction checks for violent, sex-related, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, identification check, disciplinary action in previous employment.
Desirable Requirements
Experience in neurodevelopmental and or community paediatrics.
