What be you'll doing?
* Oversee the payroll function and ensure an accurate and timely payroll process for all employees.
* Lead, train, and support payroll staff to ensure quality and consistency.
* Manage end-of-month and end- of- financial – year processes and reporting.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, and tax regulations.
* Ensure payroll accuracy through audits and continuous process improvement.
* Manager employee benefits and related payroll deductions.
* Respond to employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.
* Administer and enhance payroll system, including Chris 21 and My HR.
* Liase with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders for seamless operations.
Essential Requirements
* Ability to manage, engage, lead and inspire others to achieve outcomes for the benefit of the organisation and community – Previous people leadership experience essential.
* Minimum five years of relevant experience in managing or coordinating a large payroll function using Chris 21.
* Highly proficient in Chris21.
* High level of numeracy, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
* A strong commitment to delivering quality customer service, particularly in the area of resolving customer enquiries and complaints.
* Extensive practical experience in system report writing and trend analysis.
* Sound administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of employment related legislation such as the Industrial Relations Act and the ability to interpret Awards, Agreements, policy and procedures.
* An understanding of and commitment to EEO
Desirable Requirements
* Experience in Local Government
* Tertiary qualifications or a Certificate in Business Management, Accounting, Financial Services, Bookkeeping or equivalent experience
