The Role
As we continue to grow and diversify, an opportunity has presented itself to grow the team with a proven Business Development Manager. As a key member of the pre-contracts team your role will be to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities to drive growth for Bielby. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong industry knowledge, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a proven track record in business development within the civil construction sector.
* Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and industry trends.
* Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company growth objectives.
* Identify potential clients and partners and assess their needs and business potential.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
* Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to clients.
* Work with the Pre-Contracts Team to ensure all submissions meet the client expectations and requirements.
* Work with the Pre-Contracts Team in developing win strategies.
* Represent Bielby at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
* Establish and maintain a strong professional network within the civil construction industry.
* Monitor and report on industry developments, competitor activities, and market conditions.
* Track and report on business development activities, pipeline, and results.
* Use CRM systems to manage client information and business development activities.
* Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on business development progress and outcomes.
About You
* Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Equivalent is ideal but not essential
* Minimum of 5+ years of experience in business development or a related role within the civil construction industry.
* Proven track record of developing strong client relationships and delivering successful business development strategies.
* Strong understanding of the civil construction industry, including market dynamics, key players, and project cycles.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
* Strategic thinker with strong systematic and problem-solving abilities.
* Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
* Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Adaptability and willingness to travel as required.
