Youth Support Worker
We are seeking experienced and compassionate individuals to join our team as Youth Support Workers. As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing individualised support to young people residing in our care.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide direct person-centred support and care to young people who reside in our OOHC homes, ensuring their individual needs are met.
* Support young people to develop independent living skills, achieve their goals, and engage in their local communities.
* Maintain a safe and welcoming home environment, and empower young people to develop skills that support them to live a good life within their local community.
A typical day in the life of a Youth Support Worker may include:
* Supporting young people to develop independent living skills.
* Supporting young people to achieve their goals.
* Supporting young people to engage in their local communities (through school, community groups etc.).
* Daily care and support, including assisting with household duties.
* Transporting young people to and from appointments.
* Supporting connection to family and culture.
* Working alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
* Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
* An understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice (or willingness to learn).
* Qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, Welfare, or other related areas (Cert IV) (highly regarded).
* Previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma (highly regarded).

* Are able to obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check prior to commencement.
* Are able to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
* Can physically engage with young people playing games/sport, etc.
* Can use computers and learn a variety of software/programs.
* Hold a current Driver's License.
