A leading independent commercial solar + storage provider is hiring a Lead Engineer to act as the technical authority across grid-connected and off-grid C&I solar and battery projects. Based in North Sydney with hybrid flexibility, this role owns engineering governance—ensuring every design is safe, compliant, buildable and aligned to best practice.
This is a business that backs engineering excellence—high standards, clear accountability, and a culture that actively develops talent. You'll work with a strong internal engineering group and have the mandate to improve how design and delivery is done, not just "approve drawings".
What you'll do
* Be the final decision‐maker on technical design considerations and risk‐based engineering calls.
* Review and approve designs produced by Project Engineers to ensure safe, successful outcomes.
* Own compliance with relevant standards, DNSP requirements, customer requirements, and evolving industry best practice.
* Improve engineering workflows and design processes to maximise safety, quality and efficiency.
* Mentor Project Engineers and help grow the team's technical capability (including recruitment and performance support).
* Support detailed design on major/complex projects and provide engineering support to Solutions and Service teams.
* Manage engineering workloads, resource allocation and team priorities.
What we're looking for
* Deep experience delivering commercial solar PV + battery storage projects in Australia, including compliance and technical design considerations.
* Strong knowledge of electrical safety and protection (and the confidence to lead technical decisions).
* Demonstrated leadership—mentoring, process improvement, and cross‐functional stakeholder communication.
* Ability to multitask, prioritise, and maintain a high bar for quality.
