Overview
We are SERIQ Technologies — a Melbourne-based consumer technology company focused on smart wearables for pets.
We design and build our hardware and firmware in-house, and plan to begin limited field releases in ****.
These devices will be supported by our upcoming cloud platform and mobile apps, allowing pet owners to monitor their pets' health, location, and other key data.
Following field and laboratory validation, we aim to begin full-scale commercial production.
Role Description
The Embedded Software Engineer position is a full-time, on-site role based in Glen Waverley, VIC.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop production-ready firmware for the company's wearable devices, using FreeRTOS, Zephyr RTOS, or equivalent.
Conduct proof-of-concept exercises and translate research findings into working code, implementing signal-processing techniques ranging from basic ideas (e.g., first-order filters, lookup tables) to advanced scenarios (e.g., feedback controllers, multilayered neural networks, recursive least squares filters).
Integrate third-party drivers for on-board components, including wireless communication modules, sensors, actuators, and power management units — such as LTE-M/NB-IoT, GNSS/GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, accelerometers, mmWave motion sensors, microphones, haptic actuators, and Li-ion battery management systems.
Implement firmware-level connectivity for IoT cloud integration, mobile app interfaces, and over-the-air (OTA) update mechanisms.
Develop test firmware and tools for production-line testing and quality control.
Diagnose firmware issues in the field and deploy OTA patches to resolve bugs.
Qualifications
Strong theoretical foundation, particularly linear algebra, engineering physics, and signals and systems.
Experience developing entire firmware from scratch using bare-metal coding.
Preferred
Experience implementing a feedback controller or a multi-layered neural network in embedded firmware.
Experience developing firmware from scratch for ARM-based microcontrollers.
