The Press Officer will play a vital role in delivering the press and media strategy for Assembly Festival's 2025 summer season, including the Edinburgh Folk & Food Festival.

Rate of Pay : £550 per week (40 Hour), £660 per week (48 Hour)
Reports To : Head of Marketing and Communications
Works With : Press Team, Broadcast & Event Manager
Key Responsibilities
1. Press Office Coordination
* Respond to and manage daily press enquiries via phone and email.
* Maintain the press office inbox and assist with accreditation processing and press ticket requests.
* Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the press office, especially during the festival period.
2. Media Relations
* Support the distribution of press releases and media invites.
* Liaise with journalists, photographers, and broadcasters regarding coverage opportunities.
* Assist in building relationships with new and existing media contacts.
* Act as a contact point for visiting companies regarding press and PR activity.
* Coordinate artist interviews, media call scheduling, and photo opportunities.
* Brief artists and spokespeople in advance of interviews or press appearances.
4. Broadcast and Onsite Support
* Work with the Broadcast and Event Manager to deliver live media opportunities and onsite filming.
* Help coordinate press launch events, media mornings, and photocalls.
* Escort and manage media visits onsite when required.
5. In-House PR Campaigns
* Support the Head of Marketing and Communications in delivering organisational press campaigns.
* Assist in the drafting and dissemination of brand announcements, key messages, and institutional communications.
* Monitor and respond to media opportunities related to Assembly's profile and broader positioning.
6. Coverage Monitoring & Reporting
* Track media coverage and assist in compiling press clippings and evaluation reports.
* Update internal records with press and campaign activity as needed.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational and time management abilities.
* Experience in a press or communications role, ideally within an events or arts environment.
* Confidence managing busy workloads and liaising with multiple stakeholders.
* Calm under pressure and adaptable to the fast-paced nature of live event delivery.
