 
        
        Role The Director of Learning is responsible for creating a positive learning setting that promotes learning growth in every student. This will be achieved by supporting staff in the development and implementation of evidence based best practice and differentiation that supports the learning of all students. 
This role is dedicated to supporting the development and implementation of high-impact teaching and learning initiatives across the school. Working outside the classroom full time, the Director of Learning will also be responsible for ensuring that teachers are implementing teaching practices that have the greatest impact on student progression. 
The role also includes working directly with students to enhance engagement and achievement, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning. As staff member, the Director of Learning is expected to build respectful and collaborative relationships that actively contribute to a positive school culture and climate. 
As a key member of the school's Leadership Team, they will also be required to demonstrate the following: 
A commitment to the Values of DET and Mildura South Primary School 
An understanding of current DET priorities 
An understanding of and adherence to the school's child safety policies, including the Child Safe Policy, Child Safe Standards, Code of Conduct, and all related procedures and guidelines 
Leading Learning and Teaching: Statement of Duties Proactively lead and foster a cohesive, highly aspirational and expert teaching and learning culture and team within the school. 
Develop, articulate and implement a strategic vision for instructional protocols through the structure, programs and initiatives relevant to teaching and learning. 
Lead the academic direction of Mildura South Primary School in collaboration with other leaders of learning 
Develop relationships based on respect and trust and develop a sense of shared purpose, shared vision and shared values within the school community. 
Responsible for leading staff to raise student achievement and engagement and continually improving the quality of teaching and learning. 
Provide leadership for ongoing innovation in teaching and learning. 
Collaborate with Leaders of Learning to anticipate and plan for innovative responses to educational research (e.g. future technologies, student and staff wellbeing, cognitive science). 
Teaching and Learning Lead and support the promotion of a culture of academic excellence. 
Lead and collaborate with Leaders of Learning to ensure programs, pedagogy, assessment, and teaching and learning practices ensure optimal student performance, are data responsive and research informed and address VTLM 2.0 and the 2.0 Victorian Curriculum. 
Lead and promote a coaching culture to support ongoing staff development and growth. 
Maintain a contemporary knowledge of emerging trends in education, especially pedagogy, curriculum and educational leadership. 
Ensure the curriculum direction, documentation, priorities and innovations reflect best practice and are age and stage appropriate. 
Lead, manage and collaborate with the other leaders to support, implement and track of 
Foster staff who are accountable, collaborative, positive and driven by high expectations for students. 
Create conditions and professional relationships conducive to the enhancement of staff wellbeing, and professional engagement and aspiration. 
Monitor the implementation of all teaching staff and provide regular feedback, support and coaching. 
Respond to any staff issues in a confidential, compassionate and professional manner. 
Develop leadership capacity in others through coaching and mentoring middle leaders and through the provision of leadership professional development and support. 
Engage efficient organisational and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and concurrently manage several competing and complex tasks. 
Full involvement in the life of the school through attendance and participation at school and extra-curricular events. 
Other duties as required by the Principal. 
Responsibilities In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to: 
Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities 
Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery; 
Leading and managing the provision of professional development and developing individual and team development plans for teaching staff within the priorities of the school; 
Leading and managing staff performance and development (review of staff); 
Leading and managing the development of the school's assessment and reporting policies and practices; 
Leading and managing the implementation of the school operations and policies related to student welfare and discipline; 
Leading the development of curriculum in a major learning area and participating in curriculum development in other areas; 
Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers; 
Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school; 
Contributing to the development of proposals for school council consideration; 
Developing and managing the school code of conduct. 
Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
