The Opportunity
This is an s26 permanent transfer opportunity for a substantive EL1. You will join a collaborative financial accounting team responsible for delivering high quality financial reporting, managing a small team, and overseeing compliance and treasury functions. The team works closely with internal business areas and external stakeholders, playing a key role in supporting hard close and year end processes.
You will work under an experienced Director and gain valuable exposure within one of the most sought-after Federal Government departments. Hybrid working arrangements, with 2 to 3 days working from home per week, will be considered for the right candidate.
The Role
* Managing a small team to deliver departmental annual reporting and providing data for the annual report
* Ensuring end of month processes are completed on time
* Managing financial statements using the KPMG model
* Reviewing taxation requirements, including FBT and GST
* Preparing monthly and annual balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
* Analysing financial trends, investigating complex accounting matters, and drafting position papers with recommendations
* Supporting administered reporting and treasury related functions, including appropriation reconciliations, cash reporting, and financial statement disclosures
The Ideal Person
You are an experienced EL1 in financial reporting or a financial auditor with a minimum of 2 years as a substantive EL1 within the Federal Government, looking for an S26 transfer. You are CA or CPA qualified.
You demonstrate a proactive approach, strong problem solving and analytical skills, advanced Excel capability, and experience managing staff. Experience with SAP, TechOne, or CBMS is highly regarded.
To be eligible, you must be an Australian Citizen with an existing Baseline or above security clearance.
Salary / Rate
* $135k - $150k + 15.4% Super or salary match
