Reporting to the Accounting Manager – Financial Accounting, as an integral Business Partner, this role, will have accountability for managing Lease Accounting process in compliance with IFRS 16 and supporting General Ledger maintenance activities and assist the Fixed Asset team with capital projects capitalisation and contributing to the preparation of statutory financial statements and related reporting requirements.This is more than just a numbers job — it's an opportunity to collaborate across departments, support strategic initiatives, and grow your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.This role will be based out of our Flinders Street office in SA.Key responsibilities will include: * Maintain and reconcile the lease accounting system in according with IFRS 16 and support lease-related reporting and disclosure requirements.
* Process new lease entries, amendments, renewal and terminations in the lease accounting system along with preparing monthly journals and supporting lease related reporting requirements * Assist in the maintenance and control of the general ledger including the chart of accounts, company structure and reporting * Preparation and management of monthly balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with month end timetable deadlines * Assist the Fixed Asset team in reviewing and processing capital projects capitalisation in accordance with IFRS standards and internal Finance policy * Assist in the preparation of annual statutory accounts for all Australian legal entities in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
* Liaise with external auditors and provide required documentation and explanations during audit * Support the Senior Financial Accountant with internal and external Auditors with queries * Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to finance system enhancements * Ensure compliance/governance in accordance with the Company's Policies and ProceduresAbout YOUYou'll have: * Degree qualification in relevant field and a CA or CPA qualification * Knowledge of AASB 16/ IFRS 16 and experience in handling Fixed Asset process is advantageous * Experience in partnering with financial and non-financial staff in order to meet best business outcomes * Strong analytical skills to interpret, investigate and explain data to stakeholders * Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role * Computer literacy with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite along with SharePoint & Oracle (desirable)We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidate hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
