As a member of the Urology team, you will be actively involved in the roster for the timely assessment of patients who present to the emergency department or who are referred from other hospitals or from general practitioners in the community with acute urological conditions. Undertaking assessment of inpatient referrals from other specialist units, you will ensure the safe, efficient and well documented management of urology inpatients at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH). You will also have allocated outpatient and supervised theatre responsibilities, and participate in the on-call roster for urology registrar cover at the hospital. During such cover you will have the support of the on-call Urology Consultant for both clinical decision making and surgical interventions. As part of your role, you may also be involved in assisting and teaching the unit's Intern and Resident Medical Officer. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital provides health services by means of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services using the most modern available methods of assessment and treatment in medical, surgical, mental health, allied health and other techniques. Emphasis is placed on continuity of care before and after hospitalisation and care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team.
Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration. With demonstrated experience in the assessment and management of urological conditions, you will possess highly developed skills in communicating, negotiating and mediating with colleagues, patients and other professional staff. You will work well within a multidisciplinary team environment, and have the capacity to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse range of professional staff.
