OverviewSenior Payroll Officer - Corporate ServicesLocation: Stuart Park, NTType: Full-time, Permanent, Office-basedReports to: Head of Corporate ServicesSalary: $85,000 - $95,000 p.a. + superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience)This role is in our Corporate Services Division, delivering outsourced finance and payroll functions for Indigenous corporations and community organisations, acting as an extension of their workforce.In this role, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end preparation of payroll across multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
You will liaise with consultants in reviewing complex matters and provide guidance to junior staff involved in payroll processing.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys the technical side of payroll while also building client relationships and supporting continuous improvement of payroll processes.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll ProcessingPrepare, process, and reconcile payroll for multiple Corporate Services clients.Ensure compliance with Fair Work, enterprise agreements, awards, ATO, STP, and superannuation requirements.Maintain payroll records including employee master data, leave balances, deductions, and entitlements.Process terminations, redundancies, back pay, allowances, and adjustments.Review & CompliancePrepare & review payroll calculations prepared by support staff; identify and resolve discrepancies.Support lodgement of Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations.Assist with year-end payroll processing including PAYG summaries, reconciliations, EOY finalisation and reporting.Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation, awards, and workplace agreements.Client Support & CommunicationRespond to payroll queries from clients and employees in a timely and professional manner.Provide guidance to clients on entitlements, leave, and payroll compliance.Prepare payroll reports for client boards, management, and auditors as required.Team SupportMentor and support staff assisting with payroll.Work closely with the Head of Corporate Services to streamline processes and improve accuracy.Contribute to development of payroll Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Skills & Qualifications4+ years' payroll experience, including end-to-end processing.Solid knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work, superannuation, and taxation obligations.Experience using Employment Hero (highly regarded); Xero, MYOB, or similar systems also valued.Experience with payroll for Indigenous corporations or not-for-profits (preferred, but not essential).
