Indigeco is supporting a federal government department to engage an experienced Senior Software Engineer (EL1 equivalent) with strong Python and AWS experience to review, update, integrate and support seismic processing and data acquisition systems as part of their community safety focused services.
You'll work within a small DevOps team developing and maintaining robust, highly available and secure operational and scientific systems across AWS cloud and on-premises infrastructure, with a strong focus on modernisation and migration to AWS.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design and deliver secure, reliable, highly-available operational systems in AWS
* Lead architecture, implementation, deployment, and uplift of AWS-hosted services
* Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines, testing, monitoring and alerting
* Support ongoing modernisation, including migration of on-premises components to AWS
* Develop additional capabilities, including converting scientific research into operational systems
* Produce and maintain comprehensive system documentation
* Contribute to continuous improvement across agility, security, reliability, and user engagement
* Collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes on time
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Essential
* Demonstrated software development experience in a Linux environment, including:
* Python v3
* Use of open-source libraries
* Version control practices (e.g., BitBucket/Git workflows)
* Agile mindset, with clear communication and collaboration across team members and stakeholders
* Strong problem solving and logical thinking, including:
* Debugging and troubleshooting
* Unit testing experience
Desirable
* Experience developing scientific applications for operational systems
* Experience building or supporting high-availability operational services
* Experience with relational databases
* Experience with cloud environments (AWS) and infrastructure as code (Terraform), including CI/CD practices
