This role is not a traditional psychologist job – it requires you to think outside the box and apply your scientific practice to a range of difficult yet interesting challenges. This role provides an exciting opportunity for you to use your expertise in an innovative and creative way to support offensive cyber operational mission areas. Key duties include:
1. Use psychological expertise to deliver assessments
2. Collaboratively and effectively engage operational teams across missions to provide consistent guidance and support to operations
3. Build and sustain effective relationships, and work collaboratively to represent and advocate for ASD.
4. Deliver training to ASD's offensive cyber mission relevant to operational psychology.
5. Apply evidence-based resiliency practices, as well as develop processes and productive to facilitate resiliency, and support operational teams working in a high tempo, fast-paced environment

Our Ideal Candidate
Career as a Senior Operational Psychologist at ASD is a unique and exciting opportunity to apply your specialist knowledge and skills to help keep Australia safe from threats to national security including terrorism, espionage and cyber.
As a Senior Psychologist, you'll join an expert team who apply different aspects of psychology and behavioural science in protecting against global threats and supporting operations. Making psychology and behavioural science research and theory relevant and accessible is a core part of what we do.
We seek individuals with drive and innovation, an investigative and problem solving mindset, as well someone who has the flexibility and comfort to work within a fast-paced and high performing team-focused environment.
You will bring a solid experience of psychological practice to the work we do, and take an innovative approach to applying psychology to ASD's mission.
ASD is seeking applicants to fill current and anticipated vacancies and to create a merit pool for future vacancies. In line with the Australian Public Service Commissioner's Direction 2022, upon completion of the recruitment activity, the merit pool will be available to locations across Australia.
