About the Role
In this key position, you will play a crucial role in managing the City's road and drainage infrastructure efficiently. Your responsibilities will include coordinating third-party applications, assessing their impact on council road reserves, and providing support for capital works projects. Your work will ensure the City's infrastructure operates safely, sustainably, and effectively, while supporting operational improvements across the road and drainage network.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and assess third-party applications to operate within the City's road reserve, ensuring works are implemented according to best practices and maintaining public access to key travel routes.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on network availability and vehicle restrictions due to infrastructure capacity constraints.
* Undertake engineering-related projects involving investigation, research, alternative generation, and assessment, producing reports recommending suitable courses of action.
* Provide timely and accurate advice, including letters and reports, to senior staff and customers.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to prioritise and organise tasks, and experience in civil engineering. You should be able to assess and schedule competing road access needs, analyse data to inform practical outcomes, and understand construction legislation with a focus on safety. Tertiary or technical qualifications in civil engineering or construction are highly desirable.
Essential Experience
* Strong conceptual skills, with experience in conducting research, analysing data, and synthesising results into tangible plans and outcomes.
* Understanding of legislative requirements related to construction activities, particularly those related to a safety culture.
* Ability to assess, prioritise, and schedule conflicting road access needs.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to translate technical information into plain English in both written and verbal form.
* Excellent prioritisation and organisation skills.
