Primary objective
The Governance and Strategy Team, part of the Deputy CEO's Office, drives NT Police's long-term strategic goals and
governance improvements. The team manages complex, cross-functional projects, involving internal and external partners.
Assist in the development of Policy and General Orders in conjunction with nominated subject matter experts and corporate
owners. Providing advice on writing standards and formats, ensuring cyclic review, assisting with the approval processes,
archiving, publishing and facilitating the maintenance and quality assurance of General Orders, Policy, Standard Operating
Procedures and supporting documents.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in the co-ordination, analysis, development, quality assurance and implementation of organisational policy
including General Orders, Policy, and associated documents.
2. Undertake research and prepare information on a range of policy topics and written submissions for subject matter
experts and senior executives.
3. Maintain a central repository of information and feedback on development and operation of policy documents.
4. Maintain standard operating procedures, writing guides, templates and other documents required to author and review
governance documents and provide advice on policy development.
5. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders both internal and external.
6. Maintain and apply sound and contemporary understanding of relevant social and organisational environments affecting
the Northern Territory Police.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Effective oral and written communication skills to prepare policy documents, briefs, reports, and correspondence, and to
maintain and develop stakeholder relationships.
2. Ability to effectively analyse, interpret and present complex information.
3. Ability to work with initiative and autonomy, both independently and as part of a team.
4. Ability to work under pressure, coordinate and manage tasks, prioritise commitments and meet critical deadlines while
maintaining quality standards.
Desirable
1. Demonstrated experience in policy preparation, critical analysis and the provision of advice for submissions and executive
consideration.
2. Proven ability to conduct targeted, comprehensive, timely and high-quality research to support policy development.
