The Role
We are seeking a proactive and versatile HR Business Partner & Office Manager to join our Canberra office. This dual role is critical in shaping employee experience and ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations. Approximately 70% of your time will be focused on HR responsibilities and 30% on office management. You will be the primary HR contact for our Canberra-based employees (about 20 staff) and will partner closely with our global HR team. In addition, you will manage our office environment, ensuring it runs efficiently and provides a welcoming, productive space for our employees.
Responsibilities
* HR (70%): Act as the first point of contact for Canberra employees on HR matters.
* Partner with managers to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and career development.
* Support recruitment efforts, including job postings, interviews, and onboarding.
* Coordinate training, development initiatives, and employee engagement activities.
* Manage HR processes such as payroll, leave, benefits, policy compliance, and recordkeeping.
* Collaborate with the global HR team to ensure local compliance with employment laws and alignment with company-wide initiatives.
Office Management (30%)
* Oversee the daily operations of the Canberra office, ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming work environment.
* Manage office supplies, equipment, and vendor relationships.
* Coordinate office events, meetings, and employee activities.
* Serve as the liaison for building management, IT, and facilities-related needs.
* Ensure compliance with workplace health & safety standards.
About You
* 3–5+ years of experience in HR, ideally in a business partner or generalist role.
* Previous experience managing or coordinating office operations.
* Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, payroll, and HR best practices.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
* Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a global HR team.
* Proficient with HR systems and Microsoft Office tools.
