What you'll be doingThe Epidermolysis Bullosa nurse practitioner role practices within Dermatology Department service model aimed at provision of inpatient and telehealth care, and providing an alternative model of care to children referred to the Dermatology outpatient clinic and the epidermolysis bullosa service. It is recognised that for some families this will provide an improvement in access and quality of care outcomes, satisfaction with care and reduced waiting times. Additionally, the position also contributes to the department, organisation and community through education of staff, families and the community; service and practice development; quality improvement initiatives; research and evidence-based practice projects; professional development; specialty and role promotion and clinical and professional leadership.
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role to deliver a child and family centred approach to healthcare within the Epidermolysis Bullosa clinical services. The NP provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers. The NP's scope of practice (SCOP) is determined by the context of practice, is underpinned by policy and service requirements. The SCOP will be reviewed regularly in conjunction with the service director and/or manager or Nurse Manager as relevant to the service.
• The NP role includes, but is not limited to comprehensive health assessment, initiation and interpretation of diagnostic investigations, diagnosis, prescription of pharmacological and non-pharmacological agents/therapies and discussion with/referral to medical specialists and other health professionals.
• The NP will clinically manage patients requiring hospital admission or discharge, in the clinic or community setting or as relevant to the service.
• The NP will emphasize health promotion and disease prevention.
• The NP will draw on their professional competency and capability to improve clinical service outcomes through research and quality improvement activities.
• The NP will provide education and support to other clinicians that facilitate the ongoing development of clinical practice.
• The NP will maintain a standard level of education reflective of their competence.
• The NP will challenge and broaden their education to meet service outcomes and higher competencies.
TNP/NP
A Transitional Nurse Practitioner (TNP) will be considered for this role, pending active enrolment is a suitable Masters NP program. The Transitional Nurse Practitioner will adhere to the primary purposes and standards of practice of a NP within the limitations and ScOP set out for the Transitional Nurse Practitioner.

* Current Authority to practice as a Registered Nurse and with endorsement to practice as a Nurse Practitioner through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority AHPRA or Currently Enrolled in an approved Nurse Practitioner Masters Nursing Degree working towards endorsement.
* Evidence of existing advanced practice skills and currency of practice.
* Demonstrated ability to articulate sound reasoning behind clinical, diagnostic and prescribing decisions that are informed by evidence-based practice and made within a nursing context.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
* Demonstrated skills in the delivery of clinical education and support.
* Evidence of quality and/or research activities.
* Ability to contribute to clinical service planning relevant to scope.
