This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in shaping environmental management practices and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in environmental management and water management, as well as experience working with risk management tools, assurance programs, and ISO 14001 frameworks.
You will work closely with delivery teams, environmental consultants, and regulators to drive sustainability and innovation in water management across various assets and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical leadership on water-related environmental risks across road, tunnel, and infrastructure projects.
* Contribute to leadership in environmental management excellence.
* Deliver water data analysis, monitoring programs, risk assessments, and reporting to support performance improvement.
* Ensure compliance with water-related legislation, standards, and policies across operations and projects.
* Coordinate reviews and updates of Operational Environmental Management Plans and subplans to meet ISO 14001 standards.
* Lead or support investigations into environmental incidents involving water systems, and implement corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate environmental data and documentation for reporting and audit purposes.
* Partner with internal teams and contractors to improve and embed consistent water management practices.
* Engage with regulators, consultants, and stakeholders to stay up-to-date with emerging environmental requirements.
* Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and training related to water and general environmental management.
* Support input into corporate reporting, including sustainability disclosures and statutory submissions.
Requirements
* Strong experience in environmental management and water management, or equivalent experience in senior environmental consulting, ideally with a focus on infrastructure, transport, and/or operational environments as they relate to water and wastewater management.
* Technical knowledge of water legislation (i.e. in Qld, NSW, and VIC), stormwater, wastewater, groundwater, risk assessment, and related guidance and regulatory frameworks.
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
* Confidence working with risk management tools, assurance programs, and ISO 14001 frameworks.
* Effective stakeholder engagement and the ability to guide, train, and influence others.
* Experience conducting audits, assessments, and compliance reviews.
* Strong analytical and reporting skills.
* Experience engaging with senior management, government regulators, and industry bodies is an advantage.
