**EL1 - Assistant Director, Indigenous Engagement**:

The Library is seeking to fill the role of Assistant Director, Indigenous Engagement (Executive Level 1) within the Engagement Branch. This role is a leadership position within the Indigenous Engagement Section.
The Assistant Director, Indigenous Engagement has people, program and stakeholder management responsibilities. The role manages employees performing diverse tasks and will be responsible for developing, coaching, performance management, change management, conflict resolution and the identification of development needs.
The Assistant Director, Indigenous Engagement is an exciting role that will undertake work that can be complex or sensitive operating under broad direction. This will include:
- Collaboratively developing and delivering Information and Research services to support engagement with the Indigenous population.
- Collaboratively developing cultural awareness by staff of the National Library of Australia.
- Providing culturally appropriate advice on broader Library functions including curatorial, exhibition and description functions.
- Connecting Indigenous expertise and knowledge with the Library's collection.
- Coordinating the development and maintenance of First Nations content for Library's website.
- Appraising trends and contributing to the development of policies, plans and strategies to ensure the provision culturally informed advice and guidance to Library users.
The Assistant Director, Indigenous Engagement will liaise with stakeholders, contribute ideas and participate in the implementation of service improvement initiatives and change in the workplace. This will include:
- Implementing, reviewing and evaluating policies.
- Contributing to Corporate, Business and strategic planning.
- Improving the cultural awareness of National Library of Australia staff through training and seminars.
- Providing content for the First Nations portal.
- Appraising trends and advising on the development of policies, plans and strategies to ensure the provision of excellent reader services.
