The Opportunity
We're seeking a skilled Lead Structural Engineer to provide confident leadership and technical expertise to our Townsville team. Working with a range of clients across varied sectors, this role is ideal for a hands-on, technically proficient engineer who enjoys leading teams and delivering successful project outcomes. Relocation assistance within Australia is available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
* Lead the structural team to deliver fit for purpose innovative technical and quality structural engineering solutions
* Collaborate across multiple office locations, working alongside multidiscipline engineers and designers through all project phases, from preliminary investigations and conceptual design to final design and construction.
* Support the management of engineering resources, budgets, schedules, and output quality to ensure efficiency and project success
* Ongoing engagement with internal stakeholders ensuring all parties are well informed of structural project objectives, scope and progress
* Interpret and review engineering designs and deliverables, coordinate and direct drafting resources accordingly
* Undertake structural engineering design calculations
* Project team resource planning and management
* Lead and develop the structural engineering team. Provide ongoing mentorship and strategic direction
* Development and continuous improvement of the structural design tools
* Ensuring the Safety in Design principles in all aspects of structural engineering projects
* Ability to provide succinct updates / reporting and timely escalation of issues
* Develop scopes of work / proposals for tender processes and conduct technical studies
* Development and input into capital cost estimates
* Perform site visits and inspections and risk assessments
* Provide construction / commissioning support for clients as required
The Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural)
* Professional qualification in engineering, preferably CPEng
* 10+ years significant design experience in the Resources, Industrial or renewables sectors
* 7+ years brownfield project experience in steel and concrete design, structural dynamics and fatigue
* Marine structures experience would be advantageous
* Considerable experience working in consulting engineering environments
* Experienced and enjoys leading and mentoring a small team
* Leads by example, upholding a commitment to safety, quality, and environmental consciousness, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety systems
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience in writing proposals, technical reports, and project correspondence.
* Adaptable, and decisive problem solver, able to navigate change, organising and prioritising the demands of multiple projects simultaneously
* Significant understanding of industry codes and standards and design safety standards
