About the Opportunity
This role offers a unique chance to work in the NIAA South Australia region, assisting and leading relationships with key partners in Indigenous communities, the Commonwealth, State Governments, and private enterprise to positively influence Closing the Gap outcomes.
As an Assistant Director Engagement, you will be part of a regional team, working under broad direction from the Director. Your responsibilities will include:
* Furthering the development and implementation of strategies and projects that impact Closing the Gap targets under the Commonwealth Closing the Gap Implementation Plan.
* Facilitating engagement, brokering collaboration, and building effective partnerships with partners, communities, and internal and external stakeholders.
* Contributing to strategic plans and leading the development of business cases and project plans for new initiatives.
* Maintaining awareness of research, trends, developments, and reforms affecting Indigenous people at State and National levels.

* A strong track record in leadership, staff management, complex problem-solving, and strategic partnering.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of local context, Indigenous kinship structures, culture, and customs, and their impact on Indigenous people and communities.
* Demonstration of political nous, critical thinking, and ability to draw on evidence to drive innovation, development, implementation, and evaluation of policy and programs.
* Exceptional communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with capability to engage and establish partnerships across relevant stakeholders.
* A motivated individual keen to make a difference and contribute to NIAA's focus on improving First Nations people outcomes through partnerships and shared decision-making.
* Ability to mentor, guide, and develop team members, including identifying learning needs, monitoring performance, and building cooperation within the team.
Requirements
To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen. A current motor vehicle driver's license and willingness to undertake intra and interstate travel are also essential.
