* Utilise your analytical expertise to provide support and advice to the Civil and Enforcement Services branch * An ongoing, full-time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service * VPS Grade 4: $97,955 - $111,142 plus superannuation. About the Business Unit: The Strategic Insights and Information team within Civil and Enforcement Services at the Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Data Analyst with strong technical and analytical capability to support enterprise‑level reporting and decision‑making. This role will focus on extracting, transforming and analysing large, complex datasets using advanced SQL and business intelligence tools such as Power BI to deliver automated dashboards, operational reporting and analytical insights. You will apply data visualisation, statistical and problem‑solving techniques to identify trends, drivers and opportunities for improvement, and translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights for technical and non‑technical stakeholders. This role is ideal for an analyst who enjoys working with enterprise data, building scalable reporting solutions, and using data to drive measurable business outcomes. About the Role: The Data Analyst will have solid experience working with large and complex data sets and be proficient at translating detailed specialist data and concepts for different audiences. Some of your duties will include: * Developing and delivering reports, self-service dashboards and analysis using data from internal and relevant external sources and maintain the underlying reporting framework * Optimising and automating analytics and reporting processes to generate repeatable intelligence * Interrogating, examining and transforming data to produce appropriate analytical solutions that support business decision making. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: * Skilled in business intelligence, data and analysis technical specialties (using tools such as MS SQL and Power BI; Python and R would be highly regarded) including demonstrated application in a business setting * Demonstrated experience working with large enterprise data warehouses, business intelligence tools and deployment of organisation-wide reports and dashboards * Solid experience extracting, cleansing and analysing very large and complex data sets using advanced SQL * Experience in distilling complex data analysis and concepts into meaningful narratives and visualisations for different audiences. * Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills. Qualifications/Requirements: * Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, IT, or a related quantitative field is highly desirable.
