Help shape Melbourne's stormwater network and support sustainable infrastructure Permanent, full-time. Salary: $99,022 + 12% Superannuation.
About The Role
As a Drainage Engineer, you'll assist the Team Leader Infrastructure Design by reviewing applications related to stormwater management and treatment, responding to drainage-related customer enquiries, and contributing to the development and delivery of the annual drainage works program.
This role is hands-on and focused on practical drainage assessment, data management, and providing technical support to ensure the city's stormwater network operates effectively and is renewed in line with industry best practice.

About You
You have experience in drainage or civil engineering and a solid understanding of stormwater management principles. You're confident reviewing technical applications, managing data, and providing practical solutions to ensure effective drainage systems. Your ability to work collaboratively, respond to customer enquiries, and support the delivery of drainage programmes will help keep Melbourne's stormwater network operating at its best.
What Your Experience Might Look Like
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with eligibility or registration as a Professional Engineer under the Professional Engineers Registration Act ****.
Demonstrated experience in managing drainage assets, including undertaking site inspections, condition assessments, and investigations.
Proven ability to analyse complex stormwater management issues, develop practical engineering solutions, review and approve stormwater reports and design documentation, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary drainage design standards and water sensitive urban design principles.
Highly developed customer service and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, courteously, and with discretion when working with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience working within local government, including an understanding of relevant legislation.
Broad awareness of other municipal assets such as kerb and channel, footpaths, roads, street furniture, and public lighting.
Experience in project management, including coordination of consultants and contractors.
Knowledge of flood modelling systems and methodologies.
