About You
* 3+ years' experience in civil, structural, remedial, or forensic engineering
* Strong analytical capability and technical judgment
* Excellent written communication skills, especially technical report writing
* Confidence managing diverse stakeholders, from insurers to contractors
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (ideally Structural)
* Chartered (CPEng) or NER registration, or working toward it
* Thorough knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
* Experience preparing engineering reports and scopes of work
* Capacity to estimate rectification costs for domestic, commercial and industrial structures
* Experience working with insurers or legal firms ( highly regarded )
* Current driver's licence
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll conduct independent investigations into structural failures, building defects, and damage events across residential, commercial and industrial properties. Your work will support insurance assessments, legal matters, liability determinations, and rectification planning.
You'll balance site inspections, stakeholder communication, technical analysis, and high-quality reporting—perfect for engineers who enjoy problem-solving and technical autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct forensic inspections of buildings and structures to determine cause, extent of damage, and contributing factors
* Prepare detailed causation and technical reports for insurance and legal stakeholders
* Develop scopes of work and cost estimates aligned with Australian Standards
* Engage professionally with insured parties, builders, adjusters and legal teams
* Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge across engineering standards, construction methods and legislative requirements
* Support litigation matters through expert witness documentation where needed
