- VPS Grade 2: $56,271 - $72,262 plus superannuation.

About the business unit
The Grampians West (GWR) Region provides justice services from Justice Service Centres in Ballarat, Ararat, and Horsham. Two prisons are located within the region, minimum security H.M Prison Langi Kal Kal and medium security Hopkins Correctional Centre. This position is based at H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal which is a minimum-security male prison facility focused on preparing prisoners for their transition back into the community.
About the role
Being an entry level position within the Human Resources Team, the Human Resources Officer provides a range of human resource support services within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility. The primary focuses are to perform the recruitment processes for the Prison Precinct. Other duties include high volume phone work and accurate data entry within achievable timeframes.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Providing high quality services and performing all administrative functions pertaining to human resources for the Prison Precinct and other service program areas as required.
- Assisting in reviewing and monitoring rostering procedures and practices within the prison and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation for all staffing matters, including staff entitlements, overtime, and penalty rates, shift and other allowances.
- Providing advice to staff on personnel matters including but not limited to entitlements, responsibilities, study leave as required.

About you

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- The ability to interpret employee entitlements from sources such as Victorian Public Service Agreement, and Fair Work Act.
- Knowledge of the Victorian Public Service Agreement, and computer systems such as TimeTarget and TRIM, would be highly regarded.
- Experience in dealing with end-to-end recruitment processes.
- The ability to respond to clients' needs and keep clients or stakeholders up to date with issues and developments as well as promptly following through on inquiries, requests and complaints.

A formal qualification and/or previous HR experience would be desirable.

At interview stage and prior to commencement of employment with the department, you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 with three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

**Acceptable evidence includes**:

- COVID-19 digital certificate (available via your myGov account)
- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
