Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust
is seeking an Environment and Heritage Officer who can work within a geographically dispersed team that is responsible for the implementation and delivery of heritage initiatives, programs and services at a regional level for Aboriginal and environmental heritage.
* Temporary full-time role up to 31 March 2027
* Located at Jenolan Caves, 3 hours from Sydney and 25 minutes from Oberon
* Package includes base salary for Clerk Grade 7/8 from $113,574.00 to $
125,720.00 plus employer's contribution to superannuation

About the role
The Environment and Heritage Officer reports to the Conservation and Maintenance Manager and works closely with the project management team on capital projects, as well as with field team on both above and below ground monitoring and preservation.
As the Environment and Heritage Officer, you will support the Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust in the management of Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve including the natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by strategic and operational planning, coordinating and supervising projects, environmental assessments, heritage assessments and environmental monitoring.
Field based activities including data collection, bush regeneration, wildlife monitoring/handling and environmental/heritage monitoring associated with Assets, Land Management and Capital Projects.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Experience in undertaking the day to day environmental and heritage project activities whilst identifying risks, issues and assessing the impact of actions/options for resolutions, to ensure risks are managed or escalated.
* Demonstrated ability to make day to day decisions relating to the environmental & heritage management of the site and supports management in ensuring that decisions are aligned to the budget, conservation and marketing strategies, legislative requirements and in particular to the ongoing conservation of the Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise your own work schedule within the framework of the approved program to deliver tangible, high quality outcomes in a management environment where human and financial resources are limited.
* Previous experience in keeping updated on internal and external natural, cultural and historic heritage conservation issues, policies and approaches.
Essential requirements
* Tertiary qualifications or sound experience in heritage, Aboriginal cultural heritage or relevant field.
* Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.
