Lead Test Engineer – Tactical Communications

Position Overview
Seeking a Lead Test Engineer to support tactical communications and embedded systems programs. This role leads integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) efforts for mission-critical systems within the Unified Testing Framework (UTF) environment.
You will oversee test engineering teams and ensure embedded hardware/software systems meet performance, reliability, and security requirements for advanced defense technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a team of integration and test engineers, providing mentorship and technical direction
* Develop and maintain test strategies for embedded systems
* Architect test automation frameworks and validation solutions
* Design and execute system-level test plans and procedures
* Develop automated test scripts using Python (3.9+)
* Coordinate hardware, firmware, and software integration testing
* Lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and testing assessments
* Implement verification & validation (V&V) methodologies
* Support Agile development and CI/CD testing pipelines
* Maintain test documentation, procedures, and reporting
Required Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM field
* 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
* Master's degree with 6+ years of experience
* Experience leading engineering or test teams (3–5 members)
Key Technical Skills
* Python programming (object-oriented) and scripting
* Test automation frameworks
* Hardware/software integration testing
* Experience with signal analyzers, signal generators, or USRP test equipment
* Knowledge of CI/CD and automated testing pipelines
* Experience with embedded systems development and testing
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with tactical communications or RF systems
* Experience in defense or aerospace programs
* Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools
Work Environment
* Fully onsite
* Location: Scottsdale, AZ
