About the role
We're seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals interested in future opportunities within our Operations, People and Safety division as our work in Vegetation Treatment Worker continues to grow.
This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established team responsible for maintaining vegetation near Essential Energy's electricity distribution network to ensure safety, reliability and compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Vegetation Treatment Worker are responsible for performing prescribed vegetation maintenance activities near high and low voltage overhead and underground assets. This includes cutting, clearing, and managing vegetation using appropriate equipment and techniques, as well as supporting customer service activities and operating related plant and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake vegetation control activities in accordance with Essential Energy's Vegetation Management Requirements.
* Safely perform tree and vegetation clearing around electrical infrastructure.
* Operate and maintain chainsaws, elevated work platforms (EWPs), Woodchippers and other vegetation management tools and specialised fleet.
* Conduct ground and elevated work in compliance with relevant licences and procedures.
* Operate vehicles, plant, tools, and safety equipment in line with operational and safety standards.
* Participate in safety audits, reporting, and training.
* Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with Essential Energy's Code of Conduct.
About You
As a Vegetation Treatment Worker, you will bring practical vegetation management experience, a strong safety mindset, and a collaborative approach to working in the field. You will be confident operating equipment, working around electrical infrastructure, and contributing to a team environment.
You bring practical trade skills relevant to vegetation control, along with a strong ability to work effectively as part of a team. You communicate clearly and professionally and are comfortable using basic computer systems for reporting and accessing required information.
Required Qualifications/Skills
Mandatory
* Driver's Licence
* General Construction Induction Training (White Card)
Required
* Truck Licence (Medium Rigid or higher)
Desirable
* Certificate II in ESI – Powerline Vegetation Control or equivalent experience
* Elevated Work Platform
* Traffic Control
* Close Approach Vegetation Control Authorisation
* First Aid
* Chemical Awareness and Handling
* Manual Handling
* Environmental Awareness
Experience:
* Vegetation management or similar role within the energy or arboriculture industry is desired but not essential
* Safe work practices around electrical infrastructure
* Application of safety and environmental procedures
* Familiarity with WHS and environmental compliance
