Veritas House Support Service, Clinical and Consultation services team provide supports to the various programs of Veritas House and to the community. These are a combination of assessment, therapeutic intervention, behaviour support and consultation/advice services which help meet the needs of children, young people, families and carers of Veritas House. Additionally, CCS provide services external to the organisation, with a focus on supporting the needs of vulnerable children, young people and families in our local community.

About the role

We are searching for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Veritas House Support Services Clinical and Consultation Services Team in Bathurst or Orange.

The primary objective of this position is to deliver trauma-informed, client-centered behaviour support to individuals—particularly children and young people—experiencing behaviours of concern related to trauma, mental health conditions, and disability, who are engaged with the NDIS and/or living in out-of-home care settings.

The practitioner's goal is to assess behaviour, develop and implement evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support Plans, and build capacity within the care team to promote safety, emotional wellbeing, skill development, and improved quality of life for the individual—while ensuring compliance with NDIS and child protection frameworks.

The Behaviour Support Practitioner will have a role in building the capacity of other staff across the agency in relation to behaviour support.

About you:

You could be our ideal candidate if you meet the following criteria:

Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, Behavioral Science, Special education or related field.

Current registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, or willingness to obtain.

Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with developmental trauma, mental health diagnoses and intellectual or psychosocial disability.

Experience developing implementing and monitoring Behaviour support plans that are evidence based and trauma informed.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi disciplinary team, including clinicians, case workers, carers, teachers and NDIS providers.

Ability to provide supervision to less experienced practitioners to help build their capability in meeting the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework.
