Dispatch Team Leader – Leadership & Logistics Focus
We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as a Dispatch Team Leader. This is a permanent full-time position with competitive remuneration, bonus, and benefits, located in Murarrie, Queensland.
The successful candidate will lead a team to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant dispatch, maintaining customer expectations, in a secure, efficient, and high-quality manner.
What You Will Do
As Dispatch Team Leader, you will oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the dispatch team, supporting the Logistics Manager to meet customer demands and operational goals. Your key responsibilities include:
- Champion and embed a robust Safety culture throughout all daily activities, ensuring compliance and proactive risk management
- Lead and motivate a team of dispatch operators to achieve high performance and meet daily KPIs
- Oversee and monitor order movements to ensure efficient and timely dispatch of export shipments with accurate and compliant documentation
- Approve freight invoices promptly and manage freight consumables ordering
- Collaborate with other departments to address customer enquiries, freight quotes, and coordinate scheduling
- Maintain Aussieflex (in-house system) controls to enhance team efficiency, including managing backorders and undelivered stock
- Identify logistics procedural gaps and implement corrective actions to mitigate business risks and improve supply chain reliability
- Conduct regular staff performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and manage talent development and training pathways
- Support recruitment, roster management, leave approvals, and timesheet verification for permanent and contingent workers
- Lead remuneration reviews, calibrations sessions, and year-end HR processes
- Drive dispatch KPI’s, focused on shipment accuracy, yield optimisation, and waste reduction
- Ensure strict adherence to Quality, Environment, Health and Safety policies: proactively report hazards and incidents, to maintain a safe workplace
- Plan team rostering and rotations based on training and operational requirements
- Complete dispatch reports and maintain clear communication and records
- Facilitate conflict resolution and provide technical guidance across departments
- Participate in operational problem-solving and support quality assurance
- Ensure dispatch systems comply with policy guidelines and are regularly updated
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance dispatch processes and team performance
What You Must Have
- Proven experience managing teams in a dispatch, logistics, or production environment
- Strong leadership skills with emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience, and adaptability
- Exceptional time management, attention to detail, and organisational skills
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organisational levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; SAP experience is advantageous
- Ability to collaborate across functions, demonstrating inclusivity and respect for diversity
- High ethical standards and integrity, ensuring responsible use of company assets and equipment
