Project Officer, Emergency Management * Salary: $97,955 – $111,142 plus superannuation * Ongoing role * Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) * Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available) The Role The Project Officer, Emergency Management provides high-level administrative support, project coordination and reporting for emergency management planning activities coordinated through the Emergency Management Team. The role supports the department to meet its emergency management legislative obligations and contributes to whole-of-government emergency management arrangements. The position operates in a fast-paced, response-critical environment and requires the ability to work autonomously under limited supervision, manage competing priorities and progress activities to completion. The role may be required to provide executive support during emergency activations or significant business disruptions, including working at incident control centres or the State Control Centre. Main Accountabilities * Contribute to projects that improve emergency management outcomes across the department's portfolios, including operational activities, business planning and internal communications. * Support the development, implementation and evaluation of emergency management and preparedness plans, systems and programs, including research and preparation of reports, papers and briefings. * Represent DJSIR at internal, inter-agency and whole-of-government committees, meetings and working groups, and support delivery of agreed actions. * Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely information flow, risk identification and coordination. * Provide executive and coordination support during emergency activations or significant business disruptions, including participation in after-hours or rostered arrangements where required. The Team This position sits within the Strategy, Performance & Governance Branch in the Corporate Services Group. The branch works to uplift the efficiency and effectiveness of the department by driving strategic projects, governance frameworks and key programs. It supports high-quality reporting, planning, risk management, business continuity and emergency management to enable effective oversight and informed decision-making across the department. About You You have strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to identify priorities, manage processes and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic environment. You communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, preparing high-quality briefs, reports and correspondence tailored to diverse audiences, and contributing effectively to project delivery and team outcomes.
