Offer description

Are you a Senior or Principal Planner ready to step into a leadership-defining Associate role? This is a prime opportunity to join a highly strategic, boutique planning consultancy in Melbourne that is currently experiencing a period of significant, quality-driven growth.

About the Opportunity

Our client is a respected name in the Victorian planning industry, known for tackling complex urban renewal, high-end residential, and large-scale commercial projects. As an Associate Town Planner, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between high-level technical delivery and strategic business growth. You will be given the autonomy to lead your own project portfolio while working closely with the Directors to shape the firm's future direction.

Key Responsibilities

* Project Leadership: End-to-end management of complex statutory and strategic planning projects, including Planning Scheme Amendments and major permit applications.
* Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level, commercially astute advice to private developers, institutional clients, and government stakeholders.
* Team Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of junior and intermediate planners, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
* Business Development: Actively contribute to the firm's "win and deliver" culture by maintaining client relationships and identifying new market opportunities.

Prerequisites & Experience

* Experience: 8–12+ years of professional experience, ideally within a Victorian private consultancy or a mix of local government and private practice.
* Legislative Mastery: Deep, working knowledge of local Victorian planning legislations.
* Track Record: Proven ability to navigate complex approval pathways and deliver successful outcomes for high-stakes projects.
* Education: A tertiary degree in Urban & Regional Planning or a related discipline.
* Communication: Exceptional report-writing and presentation skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
* Professionalism: A high level of commercial acumen and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

What's on Offer

* A Strategic Seat: Influence the direction of a growing firm where your contributions are highly visible and rewarded.
* Premium Project Work: Exposure to some of Melbourne's most interesting and challenging development projects.
* Supportive Culture: Work within a collaborative, meritocratic environment that values professional development and work-life balance.
