The Role
The Role Casual opportunities available, commencing January 2026. Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC) is seeking passionate and skilled Music Instructors to join our vibrant Music Department on a casual basis. In this role, you will inspire and nurture the musical talents of instrumental students, offering both individual and group instruction. You’ll be a key part of a team of dedicated music specialists, fostering a love for music and creating exciting performance opportunities for students across a wide range of musical styles. Due to extensive growth in the Music programs, Music Instructors on a variety of instruments/voice are encouraged to apply.
Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- Provide private lessons on your instrument/voice, developing personalised programs and organising performance opportunities.
- Assist in classroom programs such as the Year 2 Strings/Year 5 Strings/Band program (if applicable).
- Lead ensembles, guiding students through a developmental program and preparing them for concerts.
- Work with the Director and Deputy Director of Music to support student participation in MLC ensembles and choirs.
- Maintain instruments and supervise repairs as needed, ensuring they are in top condition for student use.
- Fulfill administrative tasks, including maintaining lesson attendance records, submitting scholarship and exam entries, and communicating with parents.

About You
- Appropriate qualifications – minimum AMusA on teaching instrument/voice or Music degree from a recognised tertiary institution
- Expertise in providing music instruction across a variety of styles.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, particularly when engaging with parents, students, and staff.
- A commitment to child safety and adherence to all relevant College policies.
- Current Working With Children’s Check
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of ensemble repertoire and the ability to arrange music for ensembles/choirs.
- Experience with instrument maintenance and repair (if applicable).
