Data and Information Systems Analyst
The Forensic Operations Support Unit is responsible for leading the development and delivery of key actions in support of the FSD Strategic Plan and other associated key priorities. This role will support various clients across the Forensic Services Department, including the Office of the Executive Director, by providing business reports, data extracts, and process mapping.
Key accountabilities
Contribute to requirement gathering, documentation, design and implementation of business-intelligence solutions that support operational insights and resource planning.
Analyse and cleanse data from FSD systems to ensure accuracy, consistency and usability for reporting and decision-making.
Collaborate with the Data and Analytics Team, internal FSD clients and operational staff to understand data needs and translate them into system or reporting enhancements.
Identify opportunities for business improvement and communicate these to the Data and Analytics Team.
Support projects across FSD and Victoria Police, contributing to the development of new business insights and applying contemporary analytics approaches to leverage existing data assets.
Run queries, processes and reports primarily using SAS Enterprise Guide (SAS-EG) and other supported tools such as Power BI and Excel to meet business reporting and analysis needs.
As the successful applicant, you will have
A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in data analytics.
The following skills would be highly regarded
An understanding of laboratory setting and its operations.
Well-developed interpersonal skills for liaising with clients.
Technical skills in data querying and reporting, especially using SAS tools, and willingness to build proficiency on the job.
An interest or background in data analysis and visualisation, including basic statistical concepts and the ability to interpret data meaningfully.
Requirements and relevant information
Position location: 31 Forensic Drive, Macleod ****.
Commencing salary will be at the base level of the VPS-3 salary range.
You will be required to provide a DNA sample (buccal swab) for laboratory quality control purposes.
Pre-employment checks will include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
You must be an Australian Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance at the required level.
