Join our team as a Technical Adviser – Arboriculture
Are you passionate about protecting and enhancing our city's tree assets while supporting safe, well‐planned development across the Redlands Coast? In this role, you'll be a key arboricultural specialist—providing expert advice, undertaking inspections and helping deliver high‐quality outcomes for our community. Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing and resolving customer enquiries related to tree safety, health, and management, with a strong focus on risk‐based prioritisation.
* Providing expert arboricultural assessments and technical advice for development applications, including tree retention, clearing and compliance with City Plan, legislation and Australian Standards.
* Conducting onsite tree inspections, development inspections, planned signage inspections and mobile assessments.
* Preparing high‐quality technical reports, internal referral comments and providing guidance to internal teams.
* Contributing to initiatives and policies that support the effective management of Council's tree assets.
* Assisting with low to moderate complexity environmental development assessments during periods of increased demand.
* Maintaining up‐to‐date knowledge of arboricultural best practice, techniques and industry standards.
Skills and experience:
* Strong experience in assessing tree health, structure, safety and environmental value using contemporary arboricultural methods.
* Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, including City Plan and state regulation.
* Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical advice clearly and professionally.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports.
* Effective time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

* You'll have an AQF Level 5 Diploma in Arboriculture, or an equivalent qualification, or experience that provides the same competencies.
