About the Role
We are seeking a Civil Survey Technician to support our site survey operations across multiple projects. This role is suited to someone who enjoys field work, data processing and drafting, and who can work under the direction of a Surveyor or senior survey staff.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist Surveyors and site teams with planning and preparation for daily survey tasks
* Collect and record field data using surveying instruments (including GNSS/GPS and total stations)
* Support establishment and maintenance of survey control in accordance with project requirements
* Assist with setout for civil works under direction and provide field notes and reports
* Undertake as-constructed data collection and assist with preparation of as-constructed documentation
* Perform routine computations (levels, volumes, quantities) and prepare basic reports
* Process electronic data and maintain organised project survey files and registers
* Prepare and update drawings and plans in CAD and related software, including mark-ups and revisions
* Assist with 12d data preparation for modelling and machine guidance (as directed)
* Liaise with site personnel to coordinate survey tasks and support efficient delivery
* Follow safety procedures and quality requirements, and report any issues promptly
Requirement, skills and experience:
* TAFE qualification in Surveying, Spatial Information Services, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
* Experience assisting with construction/civil surveying tasks (setout, as-constructed, basic volumes)
* Familiarity with common survey instruments and field workflows (Topcon and Trimble experience well regarded)
* Competency using CAD software and processing survey data (for example: Magnet, Business Centre, 12d, or similar)
* Ability to perform accurate routine calculations and maintain reliable records
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and standards
* Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a site-based team
* Current driver's licence
* White Card (or willingness to obtain)
