Our client, a leading Australian owned Defence Industry SME, specialises in design, engineering, integration and support of complex high technology electronics, software, electrical and mechanical systems.
The company currently supports sustainment and acquisition activities for both fixed and deployable communications assets at various locations.
Your new role as System Safety Engineer
1. Lead system safety activities for the project, serving as the primary subject matter expert and representing the organisation at project safety meetings with stakeholders.
2. Conduct safety assessments for new designs and design modifications, providing critical analysis of potential impacts on system safety.
3. Manage and maintain comprehensive hazard logs and risk control plans, ensuring alignment with Defence safety standards and regulatory requirements.
4. Represent the organisation at high-level safety working groups and executive meetings, presenting technical findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
About you
1. You hold a Tertiary Engineering degree (eligible to be MIEAUST).
2. You have System Safety qualification, or training.
3. You possess good working knowledge of system safety engineering practices and applicable standards, e.g. MIL-STD-882.
4. You have prior participation in a formal defence System Safety Program.
5. You have experience in performing hazard identification and analysis tasks, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Health Hazard Analysis, Operation Support, Hazard Analysis, Sub System Hazard Analysis, and System Hazard Analysis.
6. You are skilled in preparing Safety Case Reports, Hazard Logs.
7. You have knowledge of systems engineering practices and applicable standards, eg EIA-632, and/or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
8. You have knowledge of risk management practices and ISO 31000.
9. You are familiar with the Work Health Safety Act and Regulations.
10. You have awareness of SafeWork Australia Codes of Practice, especially those related to manual handling.
11. You have exposure to applicable Australian Standards related to one or more specialties areas such as electrical installations, occupational noise, working at heights.
12. You have ability to work to deadlines with little supervision.
13. You have excellent communication skills.
14. You can interpret information of a complex technical nature.
15. You can solve problems and make decisions effectively and efficiently.
You must be an Australian citizen and have NV1 security clearance.
