Care, organisation and people – this role brings them together
For 20 years, Yalari has been supporting Indigenous children from remote and regional communities to access quality education through full boarding scholarships. Today, our growing community of students and alumni are stepping confidently into the world as connected, highly educated Indigenous leaders.
Behind every student journey is a dedicated team of people who care deeply about doing things properly - with kindness, clarity and respect.
That’s where you come in.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Human Resources Officer to support the people who make Yalari possible.
This is a hands‑on, people‑centred role for someone who enjoys creating calm, well‑organised systems - and who understands that behind every policy, process or form is a real person.
You’ll provide high‑quality support across Yalari’s People & Culture functions, helping ensure our team is well supported, compliant, informed and connected. Alongside HR responsibilities, you’ll also provide general office and business administration support, contributing to the smooth day‑to‑day running of the organisation.
This role is not about rigid corporate HR.
It’s about care, trust, organisation - and doing the important things well.
What You’ll Do
* Onboarding and offboarding staff, ensuring they feel welcomed, informed and supported from day one
* Maintain accurate and confidential staff records
* Assist with payroll support and general HR administration
* Coordinate recruitment processes, including job advertisements, interview scheduling and candidate communication
* Support hiring managers with the practical aspects of recruitment, keeping things organised and moving
* Support HR compliance requirements including Blue Cards, Working With Children Checks, WHS and training records
* Help ensure Yalari meets its obligations while maintaining a people‑first approach
* Provide general office and business administration support, including shared inbox monitoring, filing, reception assistance and day‑to‑day coordination
* Assist across teams where needed to help the organisation run smoothly
* Support internal engagement, communication and People & Culture initiatives that contribute to a positive workplace experience
Who You Are
Organised, thoughtful and quietly capable. You care about getting the details right - and you care just as much about how people experience the workplace.
You;
* Have at least 3 years’ experience in a HR or People & Culture role
* Have a solid understanding of HR processes, compliance, NFP Salary packing processes and employment legislation
* Bring strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail
* Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with ease
* Are comfortable providing general office and administrative support
* Are calm, reliable and enjoy being someone others can depend on
* Are aligned with Yalari’s values and motivated by purpose‑driven work
Formal HR qualifications are valued, but your judgement, care and approach to people matter just as much.
Why Yalari?
At Yalari, you’ll be part of something bigger than yourself.
You’ll work alongside people who care deeply — in a culture that values relationships, trust and integrity. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work, support an incredible team, and help create the conditions that allow young people to thrive through education.
