Our Aboriginal Practice and Partnerships team coordinates activities that aim to improve outcomes for Aboriginal clients, their families and communities. This includes informing DHS policy and practice, supporting staff who are Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal working in Aboriginal-focused programs, and providing direct supports to Aboriginal young people and their families in partnership with community.
Role Details
Multiple Aboriginal Youth Worker Positions available, both fulltime and casual.
As an Aboriginal Youth Worker your role will include:
* identifying, assessing and responding to Aboriginal Youth Justice needs and individual needs to facilitate culturally appropriate diversion from the justice system
* strengthening cultural identity, social connections, and essential life skills of Aboriginal young people to support reintegration into family, community, and broader society
* providing mentorship within a culturally safe framework that promotes wellbeing, ensures appropriate care and safety, and fosters positive life outcomes for young Aboriginal people.
Special Conditions
* Only people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent may apply (pursuant to Section 56(2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.

* Some out of hours work may be required.
* Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
* Must hold a current Australian issued driver's licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Role Status: Terms up to 12 months
Salary Range: $67,589 - $72,033 (OPS)
