Salary: $48,000 p.a. + superannuation (with $2,000 annual increment)
Reports to: Board of Directors (QUAYS)
About the Role
The Director of Choral Outreach will lead QUAYS' school engagement and youth choral education strategy. You will design and deliver outstanding vocal workshops in schools, build meaningful partnerships with educators, and direct the QUAYS Saturday Morning Choir. This role offers the rare chance to shape a new, high-impact music education initiative across Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
School Outreach & Engagement
* Design and deliver engaging choral workshops in primary and secondary schools
* Build and maintain strong relationships with school music teachers and leadership
* Identify and support promising young singers for participation in QUAYS programs
* Represent QUAYS with professionalism, warmth, and vision
Program Leadership
* Direct the QUAYS Saturday Morning Choir during school terms
* Plan and deliver four seasonal concerts annually (one per term)
* Oversee the progression of students through the QUAYS pathway model
Contribution to All Saints' Music Ministry
* Support the integration of QUAYS participants into the All Saints' Chorister Program
* Attend weekly services and rehearsals, and other events and concerts at All Saints' as required by the Music Director
* Collaborate with the Music Director to ensure alignment with liturgical and musical goals
* Help build and maintain the QUAYS and All Saints' Music Library
Administration & Promotion
* Manage communication with schools, families, and participants
* Maintain accurate program records and feedback loops
* Assist with promotional content (photos, testimonials, videos) as needed
* Advertise QUAYS and All Saints' activities on social media
Selection Criteria
Essential
* Experience in choral conducting and/or vocal education with children
* Ability to accompany singers on the keyboard and support rehearsals musically
* Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage young singers from an early age
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
* Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain) and mandatory child protection training provided by QUAYS
* Passion for music education and youth development
Desirable
* Familiarity with sacred choral or liturgical repertoire
* Experience working in or with schools or community choirs
