Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Dental Therapist/Oral Health Therapist with well-developed communication skills, who thrive working as part of a small team to deliver high quality oral healthcare, including education.

This is for a Permanent Full-Time / Part-Time or Fixed Term Full-Time / Part-Time appointment. A Fixed Term appointment will be made with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Role

What is our Dentist Therapist/Oral Health Therapist role?

The Dental Therapist/Oral Health Therapist provides routine dental care for children enrolled in Dental Therapy Centres. This role involves examination and treatment of patients. Maintaining patient records in accordance with Dental Health Service policies, supervises and gives guidance to Dental Clinic Assistants, and provides information and presentation on oral health to individuals, schools, community groups and health professionals.

Location

Bridgetown is an idyllic setting, 270KM south of Perth offering rustic charm with a unique wooded backdrop. Once the apple growing centre of the state, Bridgetown is now famous for its rolling hillsides, scenic drives, jarrah forests, starry nights and the longest continually flowing river in the state, the mighty Blackwood.

Bridgetown – mobile clinic stops at locations including Bridgetown, Balingup, Boyup Brook and Donnybrook.

Dental Health Service (DHS) is part of the NMHS and is the largest public dental health services provider in WA, operating state-wide from a network of fixed and mobile clinics, funded by the WA Government. DHS provides the Smiling Starts Early Childhood Dental program, School Dental Service, General Dental Services to eligible adults, Subsidy Schemes and Special dental Services.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector.

As well as undertaking a criminal record screening and integrity checking, you may also be required to undertake a working with children check (if required for the role) and a pre-employment health assessment. Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other \"similar\" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
