Role Overview:
OMRON seeks a Senior Project Engineer / Hands-on Project Leader to join our Service and Solutions Team. This role focuses on establishing project management foundations, transforming into a service and solutions business, and leading impactful automation projects while coaching team members.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working in project teams across industrial, FMCG, and medical environments, managing projects, engaging clients, leading engineering teams, and resource planning for PoC development, consultation, safety assessments, field service, and remote support.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Coordinate Projects and Technical Service Delivery:
* Plan, execute, and oversee automation projects from start to finish, ensuring timely, within scope, and budget delivery.
* Lead engineering teams in PoC trials, providing expert consultation on industrial best practices.
* Lead Safety Machine Assessments, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
* Coordinate field service visits and remote technical support, ensuring quality service.
* Manage cross-functional teams and optimize resource allocation.
* Leverage PoC capabilities to drive innovative solutions.
Demonstrate Best Practices in Project Delivery:
* Apply effective project management tools and frameworks.
* Develop clear scopes of work for stakeholders.
* Align processes with strategic goals for scalability and efficiency.
* Mentor and build team capabilities.
Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
* Implement industry best practices to enhance performance.
* Monitor KPIs and share learnings for ongoing improvement.
Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation) or related field.
* Minimum 5+ years in complex automation, robotics projects, with project management experience (formal qualifications preferred).
* Proven leadership in managing teams, clients, and resources.
* Experience with safety assessments, field operations, and industrial system integration.
* Extensive experience with PLC and automation platforms, including OMRON and competitors; robotics and vision experience is a plus.
* Certified Machine Safety Expert qualifications are desirable.
* Proven track record of delivering automation projects on time, scope, and budget with high quality.
* Ability to develop internal stakeholders into a skilled project team.
