We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute litigation lawyer to lead our in-house captive law firm, which is wholly owned by a well-capitalised non-bank lender.
This is a unique opportunity to continue to build and lead a high-performing legal practice focused on mortgage enforcement, debt recovery, insolvency and financial litigation. The firm provides legal services to the lender’s internal businesses and an expanding external client base including private lenders, financiers, trustees and corporate clients.
This role combines legal practice leadership and operational management, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to create and scale a profitable specialist law firm.
About the Business
Our client company is a rapidly growing non-bank lender and investment platform operating across commercial and development finance. The captive law firm was established to provide end-to-end recovery and enforcement services, including:
* Mortgage enforcement and possession proceedings
* Debt recovery and statutory demands
* Insolvency and bankruptcy matters
* Security enforcement and receivership support
* Commercial litigation and dispute resolution
* Recovery services for third‑party lenders and institutional clients
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all litigation, enforcement and recovery matters
* Manage and mentor junior solicitors, paralegals and support staff
* Oversee legal strategy from pre‑default through to judgment and enforcement
* Run and maintain efficient case management and reporting systems
* Provide strategic legal advice to the parent lender
* Manage regulatory compliance and professional obligations
* Drive productivity and operational excellence
Your background
* Admitted legal practitioner with an unrestricted practising certificate
* 6+ years’ post‑admission experience in litigation and recoveries
* Experience in mortgage enforcement and secured lending disputes
* Strong commercial acumen
* Desire to manage a small team and legal operations
* Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in building a scalable legal business
