Our purpose is to provide individuals and families with the tools and support they need to build happier, healthier lives. Through education, counselling, and community programs, we help people develop the skills and resilience to navigate life's challenges.

Our work promotes care and safety, embracing diversity to foster strong and connected communities. We are committed to expanding our expertise and leading conversations about relationships, mental health, and social connection.

By joining Relationships Australia Queensland, you can be part of a dedicated team making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities.

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of older Australians and our community? We are seeking a dedicated Elder Abuse Practitioner to join our Rockhampton team in a part-time capacity (37.5 hours a fortnight). This role involves providing case management and support to individuals, couples, and families impacted by elder abuse, raising awareness about signs and prevention, and contributing to the Seniors Financial Protection Service Program (SFPS). The focus is on safeguarding older persons from financial exploitation, offering an opportunity to drive meaningful change and empower vulnerable community members.

This role combines two key components: Case Management and Community Education. You will integrate these approaches to oversee program participation in your area.

1. Case Management: Understand clients' circumstances deeply, make referrals, and recommend services to build a network of support.
2. Community Education: Develop rapport with community services and stakeholders, promote awareness of elder abuse signs, and advocate for RAQ and the program.

Additional responsibilities include:

- Promoting education initiatives to raise knowledge of elder abuse signs.
- Developing rapport with community services and stakeholders.
- Providing accurate, timely information, advice, and options.
- Managing cases with sensitivity, acting as the first contact, gathering information supportively, and demonstrating theoretical knowledge of elder abuse. Counselling experience and qualifications are advantageous.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- Undergraduate qualifications in social or behavioural sciences.
- Experience working with clients in various settings, applying case management in complex cases.
- Experience in delivering case management and/or counselling to elder abuse-affected clients is highly desirable.
- Experience providing counselling to individuals, couples, children, young people, families, and groups.
- Experience in financial counselling.

What We Can Offer You

At RAQ, we support our staff both professionally and personally. Benefits include:

- Work-Life Balance: Flexible, supportive culture.
- Salary Packaging: Up to $15,900 annually to increase net income.
- Extra Time Off: 3 additional paid days over Christmas.
- Annual Leave Loading: Extra pay during annual leave.
- Study Leave: Up to 2 weeks paid leave annually for qualifications.
- Parental Leave: Paid leave to support family needs.
- Wellbeing Support: Medical discounts and free Employee Assistance Program access.

The salary range is $84,000 to $98,000 per annum, pro-rata for part-time, negotiable based on experience and qualifications, plus superannuation.
